A Work in Progress

As I was shopping for some stones for class, I noticed these corales which reminded me of MAC's "Venomous Villains Fall 2010 Collection" thanks to Byron. I'm still working on it though...

English Tea Beach Wedding by Amular Photography

Our top priorities in the wedding budget aside from the venue and wedding coordination would be photo and video suppliers. How did I make the selection? Research for reviews, portfolios and recommendations from past couples who have availed their services. The key factor in eyeing the best supplier is their craft and passion. The best photographer catches the soul of the subject, while the best videographer puts attention to the most unlikely details which makes the entire video unique, fun and fresh. As promised, here are some highlights of the wedding featuring the accessories I make. Credits to Ms Gel from Discovery Shores for a job well done in the reception set up... truly inspiring and vibrant! Amanda Tirol simply is the bomb!!!! Byron Velasquez for the superb long lasting make-up. Mayad keeps it fun and fresh!

PREPPING FOR NEW DESIGNS

Now that wedding preps are done, I can now focus on establishing my craft. I started learning new techniques to extend my limitations on more ideas and designs. I can't help but be excited on my upcoming projects. There will be embellished bags, hair pieces, polymer clay gift and accessories and even apparel all designed and created by mwah.

I also decided to focus on beach wedding jewelry and accessories to support b2bs (bride-to-be) achieve the perfect beach wedding as they imagined. Based on my own experience, I really took effort on learning a lot of skills just to have the look I want. DIYs are not for all as it requires time and dedication.. even a lot of passion. The best part about this is that all  of my creations are affordable too. :)

English Tea Beach Wedding by Mayad

I now present you where it all started. My inspiration was being practical in terms of cost and time. Cost as flowers are more expensive in destination weddings and there are few selections of flowers available in the island. Time as we planned this for more than a year, gave me ample chance to learn and do some research for the DIYs.

I must say I'm more of a beach-loving person. For me the sea is majestic. Considering my limited options in beach wedding accessories, I was able to prove that beach weddings can be elegant. So far I only have the wedding video trailer. I'll be posting more photos as soon as I get those from our official photographer. Enjoy.

GIFTS TO MY WEDDING SUPPLIERS

We were so busy during the wedding such that we were not given the chance to thank our suppliers personally. I made little gifts together with thank you notes to express how much we loved their craft. We want them to remember us in spite of the number of clients they cater each year.

MOVIE BUFF - Inspired Accessories

One of my hobbies is to search for rare trinkets, beads and pendants. I usually find them over the net, and antique shops. Inspired by some of the movies I watched, I thought of having a monthly collection of these inspired pieces.

I just want you and everyone else to know how much I really appreciate this... I really love it!!!!! I can't get my hands off this pretty so I switched bags immediately! It looks even better in actual! I dunno if it's just because it's in pink or the mere fact I was taken by surprise... I think it's both :)

Am I Ready for a Fashion Show?

John Herrera invited all FIP students to join an upcoming fashion show this 24th June... We can include 2-6 pcs which is related to the theme "From Dusk till Dawn". It's actually more of an evening wear look... I'm actually working on my 1st collection entitled "Spring Romance" since it's more about flowers and soft flowy fabrics and laces. Now, I've been thinking, is this a coincidence? Is this fate? Will I go for it? Hmmm I'll be spending 4 days in Boracay this week which leaves me minimal time to finish my collection. Let's see..

Wedding Jewelry 2010: Ancient-Inspired

Vintage has become a fashion trend this season especially in weddings. The key pieces to achieve this look are cameos,  pearls, rhinestones and matte-gold plated strands and locks. Many designers are inspired by Egyptian, Victorian and Old Asian cultures. As people around the globe are recovering from recession, this trend opened doors to thrifts and antique business. We have to admit, accessories are the last thing people would splurge on except for wedding bands.
I used the old pearls my grandmother gave me  to create a multi-strand pearl necklace. I found this cameo pendant in a thrift shop which was made in the 60s. The rest of the pearls were used to create my foot necklace.
Not only I was able to save, I was able to include my grandmother's memory and save the earth through reusing old trinkets.

Kiss Lock Craze

Lux de Ville LUCKY ME KISS LOCK BAG- Black

The first time I saw one of these babies was from my grandmother when I was little. She always use this similar handbag (without the flower) whenever we go to family gatherings and parties. I like its classic and very stylish form which will always glam up any outfit.

Today, bags have evolved from small-medium sizes to Large to XL handbags. Most women today prefer larger room space to make sure to carry all the essentials in just one bag. Designers such as Marc Jacobs and D&G has created such lovely yet functional handbags with kiss lock closures.
